Newport...beautiful area, that state is bigger than most think and the entire coast from Newport down is just gorgeous. I used to live in Coos Bay and we'd drive north to Reedsport and beyond or south, to the Bandon dunes. Inland is warmer but you still get the sensation you wandered onto a different planet sometimes and Ewoks are gonna pop out from behind one of those giant ferns or skunk cabbages and gnaw at your kneecap. I've lived in just about everywhere in the US and PNW was always the best for nature.
